Role:  Network Engineer Associate - This is a remote opportunity

This is an intermediate network engineering role. Candidates must be able to handle operational sustainment, troubleshooting, hardware/software upgrades, approved changes, and network security tasks under direction from senior/referral engineers.

Role:

The Network Engineer Associate supports LAN/WAN service availability through troubleshooting and problem resolution in production; provides daily operational and sustainment support for DHA LAN/WLAN/WAN networks; coordinates with Network Specialists on hardware and software upgrades; implements approved changes; supports network security barrier systems; uses diagnostics to isolate protocol, media, latency, and bottleneck issues; and performs device reconfiguration or replacement as directed.

Must-have Requirements:
  • DoD 8570.01 / 8570.01-M compliance at IAM Level II or equivalent.
  • Security+ and CCNA or equivalent network architecture certification.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline such as computer science plus three years of related experience; or certified technical/vocational school plus five years of related experience.
  • Proficiency in TCP/IP, HTTP, HTTPS, SNMP, DNS, DHCP, RSTP, VRRP, BIND, EIGRP, BGP, OSPF, 802.1d, 802.1q, 802.1w, 802.3, 802.11, 802.3u, 802.3z, Ethernet, Fast Ethernet, and Gigabit Ethernet.
  • Experience with OTDR, cable testers, network sniffers, and EIA/TIA cable standards.
  • Experience in routed, switched, and shared LAN environments using Microsoft OS, Windows Active Directory, UNIX, OpenVMS, routers, switches, terminal servers, local WAN, and long-haul WAN connectivity.
  • High proficiency in Windows networks, Cisco Systems, and Orion SolarWinds.
  • Ability to work under direction from Regional Senior Network Engineers and Referral Network Engineers on firewall, VPN, and IDS configuration.
  • ADP sensitivity determination required.
